If the recliner has quietly become your office, stop working off your knees. Laptop, mouse, notepad, coffee, phone — all of it at once, on a surface that doesn't move when you do.
This is my largest standard listing: a carved wood laptop desk built to order at 35 to 39 inches long and a full 12 inches deep. It spans an oversized recliner and gives you the working area of a small desk. I build longer than this as a custom order, up to 60 inches — message me and I'll quote it.

Built in pine, poplar, cedar, oak, cherry, mahogany or black walnut. Every edge is a double round-over, top and bottom, all the way around, which is what makes a full workday at it bearable. Three coats of urethane.
Wood is a natural product with variations and may include stabilized knots, so no two laptop desks will be identical. Wood will be edge glued to achieve the requested width. If you want a board that is not edge glued or want a "live edge" look contact me for a quote.
Weight is about 5 to 5.75 pounds in pine or poplar, and about 8.5 to 9.5 pounds in white oak, with cedar, mahogany, cherry and walnut in between. Finish and options move it slightly.

Matte: flat, no shine. Shows the grain, hides fingerprints.
Satin: soft low sheen. Most popular, most forgiving.
Gloss: high shine, wipes cleanest, shows every water spot.

Will my laptop overheat on it? Two ways to solve that. Vent ridges are carved an eighth of an inch deep to move air under the laptop without cutting through the board — they count as 2. Vent holes go all the way through for more airflow, and count as 1. This is the size people add them to most.
Is it heavy? At 39 by 12 inches, yes — about 5.5 pounds in pine, closer to 9.5 in white oak, about 7.75 in walnut. If it comes on and off several times a day, add metal handles (2 options) or choose pine or poplar.
Can I set up a full workstation? A common build here is vent ridges, a coffee mug depression, a cell phone depression and a tablet/iPad slot — 5 options. Add a backstop so pens don't roll off the back and that's 8.
